// In the sanctuary

Presence, not disruption.

The sanctuary is not a photo pit and it is not a concert hall. It is a worship space with a program running through it, and the photographer's job is to document that program without interrupting it — and without generating a stakeholder complaint that lands in your inbox on Monday morning.

Position is agreed in advance with you or the music director. Movement between positions is limited to hymn transitions and program breaks. The congregation is treated as a primary subject — not a backdrop — and no image of a congregant is delivered without them having been made aware a photographer would be present.

02 Silent shutter. Sony mirrorless bodies with electronic shutter. Zero mechanical noise.

Extended coverage, multi-service weekends, combined-choir programs, and multi-date tour bookings quoted separately. Travel outside Dayton / Cincinnati / Columbus corridor: $0.65/mile after the first 40 miles. Net 30 available for repeat clients and production companies.

What churches ask first.

Do you carry general liability insurance? +

Yes. General liability policy in force. Certificate of insurance with your church added as additional insured is available on request, typically same-day.

Do you offer preferred vendor rates for repeat coordinators? +

Yes. The $500 first-program rate is a one-time introduction. After the first booking, ongoing pricing is quoted against a coordinator agreement — flat per-program, quarterly minimums, or annual retainer — depending on your booking volume and event mix. Coordinators who put OH3 in the vendor rotation get pricing that reflects the relationship.

Can we use the photos on our website, bulletin, and socials? +

Yes — perpetual, unlimited church usage is included in the quoted price. That covers the bulletin, website, printed programs, ministry materials, and all official church social channels. No per-use fee, no expiration date, no watermark. The only excluded use is commercial resale of images.

What if there's no room for a photographer in the sanctuary? +

A five-minute call the week of the program locks position. In most sanctuaries there's a pew or aisle position that gives clean sight lines to the choir stand and pulpit without occupying congregation seating or blocking AV runs. The position diagram above is typical, not fixed — every venue is different, and the diagram is redrawn against your floor plan if you send one.

Do you integrate with our AV team and run-of-show? +

Yes. Send the run-of-show in whatever format you have — PDF, Google Doc, spreadsheet, notes. Coverage is planned against the cue sheet so critical moments (invocations, solo features, altar call, benediction) are anchored. Day-of comm channel is your choice: text, radio, or backstage Slack.

Do you shoot from the pulpit or the pews? +

The pews, unless the coordinator or music director specifically requests otherwise. The pulpit is a preaching position and the choir stand is the performers' space; a photographer belongs in neither during a program. Positions A and B in the diagram are pew positions. Position C is the back of the sanctuary, used only for wide shots during hymns.

What if the program runs longer than two hours? +

Coverage runs to the end of program, whatever the runtime. The two-hour figure in the pricing reflects a typical Sunday program. Combined-choir concerts, cantatas, ticketed gospel events, and multi-service programs (like Good Friday plus Easter Sunday) are quoted separately.

Do you book multi-date programs or tour dates? +

Yes. Multi-date bookings (revivals, weekend conferences, gospel tour dates) are quoted as a package with per-date pricing better than the single-program rate. Same deliverables per date. Same 48-hour turnaround, rolling.

How is payment handled? Net terms? +

50% deposit to hold the date, balance due on gallery delivery. Check, ACH, or card. Net 30 available for repeat clients and production companies. W9 furnished on request. The church or production company is invoiced directly — no personal payment required from a coordinator.

What if a congregant doesn't want to be photographed? +

Standard practice is a note in the bulletin, printed program, or a brief announcement before the program noting that a photographer will be present. Any congregant who indicates they don't wish to appear is not photographed, or is removed from delivered images. This has never been a friction point — most congregations and ticketed audiences expect coverage for special programs.
